Julian Foglietti is an editorial and documentary photographer based in Columbus, Ohio.
Since a young age, Julian has had an obsession with cameras. Growing up, photography played a major role in his life. Free time was often spent in the woods with whatever camera could be salvaged from his house, photographing the landscapes around him.
His work leans on darker tones while maintaining simplicity in the overall composition. Colors, though prominent in the composition, work to blend and highlight rather than stand as a focal point of the image. This creates a clean contrast and visual separation while still pulling viewers into the main subject of a shot.
Julian's work is founded upon ideas of authorship, utilizing photography as a means to convey stories of a given topic. Julian works tirelessly to create complex narratives and moods surrounding his work, giving his viewers a sense of time and place with his images.
Julian has photographed over thirty restaurants across Columbus, Ohio. Working in both editorial and commercial styles, his work can be viewed in multiple publications across the Columbus area. Julian was selected as a finalist for the 2018 Hasselblad Masters Competition, and continues to push his photography with personal projects, examining cultures in the communities around him.
In addition to his own projects, Julian works to mentor other photographers around him, helping them to reach success with the stories they aim to tell.
